Gameplay of NLY (Nine Lives of Yoki)
In each level, there will be scattered pink lily flowers in varying quantities. After collecting a minimum number of flowers, the player will need to find the altar (a fox statue) and make an offering; only then will the level be considered complete.
[Not included in the beta version]
The more flowers the player brings to the altar, the more "bonuses" they will receive, which are necessary for character progression, i.e., for Yoki.
Yoki J
Yoki J is an anthropomorphic fox, the main fursona of YJ Project. A white fox with a pink tail who can reincarnate as a kitsune (yokai), she is the main character in the book "The Dance of the Nine Flames".

This has potential. But I can't bring myself to actually play the current version. I don't want to tell the Devs how to do anything but dying meaning the game is kaput, a giant death hole at the end and no controls, the green squares on the menus instead of actually showing what is what. This is an issue. You want more supporters you have to give more. Close off the death hole and post the controls and fix the green square thing. And that alone will help you gain more. But to just have this being so bugged as a demo will make people think the entire game will be a buggy mess. This is just my opinion. It feels like a low effort cash grab being as jank as it is now. I am NOT saying thats what it is. But it feels like a very low effort demo. You want more support I suggest refraining from releasing super janky demos. No offense because honestly I love the idea of this game and what short time I did play makes me very hopeful. But the bugs made me want to never touch it again. So just saying maybe fix the bugs before releasing the demo.
To the Dev: Don't give up on this game. It has amazing potential. Just be careful what you choose to release as this is what is supposed to draw in more supporters. At the moment it just makes people frustrated.
Thank you for your feedback! The flaws you mentioned have already been fixed in version 0.4.0, we will try to publish it for everyone soon. We spend time every day developing the game, and we will not stop!
Awesome. I can't wait to see what this game becomes. And I will be supporting once I have the extra funds to do so.
Did I somehow manage to screw up installing this? Or am I missing something I need to run it, all I got are these green squares which move up or down the screen depending on whether I press up or down.
I have the same thing as well. Menu items like Options can't be selected, and when I try to start, it just shows green squares to scroll through up and down.
For version 0.3.0. When you press Play, a menu with level selection (no textures) opens. Press "up" and "space bar" to start.
space bar doesnt work.
Im surprised to see comments from 7h ago, even a single hour!
When did development start and for how long has the game been worked on? It seems extremely barebones from what im reading.
When should we expect to see a new version available for free?
(Hopefully with the basic systems working properly)
We plan to release new versions every month, and the next free version will be in 2-3 months (pretty big update on the screenshots). We emphasized character mechanics in version 0.3.0, so most of the menu features are missing, but we are already working on it, as well as music with professional equipment.
Yeah this is a little rough to be posting yet, the "game" is hardly functional and has about 2 minutes of content. The menu doesn't have controls on it and can't be used with the mouse, and at the end of the only selectable level which has two enemies, is a hole where you fall out of the world and nothing else happens.
(Edit: This gamepage feels scummy, so I'm not gonna completely remove this, but this needs more work before anybody on itch should be seeing it, c'mon man, you need at least one full level.)
You are right! Version 0.3.0 is demo only, with only one nsfw scene and a primary set of features. We will post a new version here soon with more content!
ease up dude
I was a bit harsh, especially since dev is working on new stuff. And I really don't want this to come across as me just hating someone, because the art is really pretty and cute, and I love the spritework on it, but this is literally no more than a unity project that hasn't really started.
Tldr: My language was a bit much, especially the whole "morality" bit, but generally I would recommend nobody really try it out until there's a version that has the ability to finish a stage, or a functional main menu. It's genuinely not worth the 10s to install for free as it is right now.
Okay, so. What is this? In the main menu, nothing does anything other than PLAY. When I die, the game just stops. By that, I mean there is no game over or anything. I don't revive, I don't get thrown back into the main menu and ESC doesn't do anything. I have to Alt+F4 and reboot the game to try again.
Oh and I have no idea what button does what because they're no put on this page or in the game.
Yes, version 0.3.0 is quite raw, this is purely to familiarize you with the initial mechanics of the game. We apologize for any inconvenience.
In version 0.3.0 there is indeed no revival after death, we added this feature in version 0.4.0 (on Patreon/Telegram).
In version 0.3.0, level control engages the mouse for melee attacks. In version 0.4.0, the controls have changed:
